The Centre
The centre is housed in a quaint 1940s weatherboard cottage that is characteristic of the area. It was rescued in the 1980s from its derelict state to now being a much-loved community centre, providing for local community’s cultural needs with an exhibition space, gift shop, meeting room, studio with large bi-fold doors that open onto the garden and art installations. The studio is a new addition to the cottage and can be hired for workshops. It has a kitchen area which can be used for catering for your exhibition. Conveniently located close to Albany Highway and on main bus routes, the centre is near to many of the Town’s amenities. We are a community, cultural and artistic showcase for ever increasing visitor numbers and a creative focal point for the Town of Victoria Park and neighbouring communities.
About Us
We work with our members, tutors, artists, partners and the community to facilitate and nurture creative and cultural growth in the community. We provide a meeting place for community, artists and those interested in the arts, a cross-section of workshops, exhibitions and events, and a gift shop showcasing the work of local artists and advocate for the arts.
We work in partnership with our valued supporter, the Town of Victoria Park, to positively contribute to the Town’s cultural development.
The Victoria Park Centre for the Arts was modified for disability access and inclusion, receiving the ‘Access Commendation’ in the Town’s 2006 Enhanced Access Awards. We have a long-standing, well established relationship with Nulsen Disability Services, Creative Connections, KZ Speech—supporting autism and are a major sponsor for As We Are—artists who have an intellectual disability.
