SUMMARY:Cultural Dinner: Lebanese
DESCRIPTION:Discover the ways that culture and cuisine are interwoven on a laid-back evening getting to know your neighbours with delicious homemade food.\n\nCultural Dinners are an interactive experience where a local host prepares a meal to share their unique story and heritage. After introductions\, guests join in preparing an element of the dinner before having a homely sit-down meal together. Join us to see how global migration has shaped the cultures and cuisines in your community…\n\nThe Cultural Sharing Dinners Project is an initiative of the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts\, in collaboration with Victoria Park Community Centre. This project is funded by the Department of Communities through its Empowering Communities Programme.\n\nPlease note:\nThis is a community event rather than a restaurant experience\, so emphasis is put on connection\, respect and learning together. The evening’s culture/cuisine is detailed in the event info but may be subject to change to accommodate any last-minute changes in hosts. Guests are welcome to BYO alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages to accompany the meal; table water is provided. Unfortunately\, we are not able to cater for all dietary requirements as we already ask so much from our hosts; however\, there are vegetarian options at each dinner.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening: ‘Fragments of Tranquility’ Lynley Jakowyna
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition runs: 5-16 June 2026\nOpening event: Friday 5 June\, 5.30pm-7.30pm \nLynley Jakowyna presents a collection of mosaic works depicting the Australian landscape. Experimenting with different techniques and materials\, Lynley is constantly challenging herself to develop and extend her knowledge in order to create the desired effects of dimension\, realism\, reflectivity and perspective of a painterly style of mosaic making. \nInspiration for these pieces usually comes from different aspects of the natural beauty of our country or the desire to create an atmosphere or represent an emotion in the finished piece. The mosaics are the artist’s interpretation of these images with which she has a personal connection.
