AiR PROGRAM

The Centre welcomes applications from artists and individuals with a creative project they believe would work well in the Kent Street Gallery residency studio.  The VPCA offers programming under the following three categories

Emerging- someone who is at the early stages of their career such as art students, recent graduates or individuals looking to showcase their work for the first time

Established- artists with an established professional practice and consistent exhibition history

Community Groups and Service Organisations- local groups or organisations that coordinate and facilitate creative projects and wish to present their outcomes in a public space.

SELECTION PROCESS

A selection panel comprised of independent arts professionals assesses all applications.  We are available to discuss applications prior to submission by phone or at the gallery by prior appointment.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Applicants should complete and submit the relevant EOI application form and support materials as requested.

To be considered for an exhibition, all relevant information and supporting documentation must be submitted with the application.  Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.  Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application within 21 days of the application closing date.  Proposals will be assessed on a number of criteria including:

  • The quality of the work and conceptual cohesiveness of the proposal
  • AiR intent, content and rationale
  • Any proposed artist talks, workshops or exhibitions in support of the residency
  • Artists wishing to exhibit at the Kent Street Gallery will need to complete an application for both the residency and the exhibition. The proposal will be considered as a whole, but we need the details for both forms to be submitted for consideration
  • Adequate material to enable assessment of the proposal
  • Studio availability at the proposed time and duration of the residency
  • Consideration of the physical requirements of the AiR space and types of art practice proposed
  • Ability to contribute to development of the artist's creative practice

Applications and support materials will not be returned.

LETTER OF AGREEMENT / CONTRACT

Successful applicants will receive a formal Letter of Agreement offering them a residency.  This must be signed and returned by the date specified in the letter to confirm acceptance of the offer. This letter is the contract between the artist/s and the Centre.

If you wish to discuss your proposal or have any queries regarding the completion of the application form, please contact the Centre at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
